Meet Tamara

As a wife and mother, who along side my husband of 29 years, we have successfully raised two children in Prince George's County. They matriculated in Prince George’s County public schools. I was an active PTSA member that fought off Walmart near John Hanson Montessori School and Oxon High School, and we got a Top Golf instead. I am an active member of several PTSA in District 9 schools as a community member. I will collaborate with the School Board and state legislators to not only fund education for new school construction, but to give teachers the salaries and curriculum autonomy they deserve and need to educate our scholars.
Using my telecommunications legal skills, I successfully stopped the construction of a cell tower next to the Tot Lot at Accokeek Academy. While president of the South County Democratic Club, we held the first student-organized and led School Board Candidates' Forum in the County at Surrattsville High School.
As a former member of the Maryland Consumer Council, a citizen advisory group to the Maryland Attorney General, I will continue my strong advocacy for our seniors to prevent them from being victims of consumer fraud. I will also fight to help seniors keep more of their hard-earned retirement income that is currently taxed too high in Maryland. I also want to ensure that homeowners maintain their homes by preserving TRIM that requires a vote before the County Council can raise your taxes.
As a member of the MD 210 Traffic Safety Steering Committee, I have worked and will continue to work to bring traffic safety improvements on all of the County's roads and highways, including bringing more funding for pedestrian and wheelchair crossing, and for curbing driver speeding and distractions that cause too many fatal crashes. I will also focus on keeping our roadways and highways clean and well maintained, including increasing funding for Department of Public Works & Transportation for snow and ice removal.
As a small business owner in Prince George's, I understand the needs of small business to obtain capital funding and procurement contracts with the County. I will be a champion for small businesses to ensure local and small businesses obtain their fair share of procurement tax dollars and County contracts.
Finally, as a former member of the Division IV, V and VII Police Citizens Advisory Councils, I played an active road in first getting the southern tier patrolling in District IV, and lobbied with neighbors for the opening of the new Division VII police precinct in Ft. Washington as well as the new Brandywine Fire station. I will continue to advocate for full staffing of all police and fire stations in the County to keep our neighborhoods safe and to reduce the response times for our calls for service.
